Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Position Number: 00107200
Essential Job Duties: A Postdoctoral position in nutritional biochemistry is available to join the laboratory of Dr. Eroglu, from the Plants for Human Health Institute (PHHI), Kannapolis NC, USA, from the Department of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry, North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh NC, USA. The position will be located at the PHHI. The candidate will interface with interdisciplinary scientists from several departments at NCSU, The Plants for Human Health Institute in Kannapolis NC, private industries and national and international recognized institutions involved in the area of biochemistry, plant science, regenerative medicine, and nutrition. The Eroglu Lab will be using the application of multi-omics and a systems biology approach to identify dietary bioactive compounds for their potential health-promoting properties. The successful candidate in this position will focus on the effects of the dietary bioactive compounds such as carotenoids and polyphenols on genome stability (DNA damage at the molecular and chromosome level), epigenome alterations (DNA methylation), RNA and micro-RNA expression (transcriptomics), protein expression (proteomics), and metabolite changes (metabolomics). Initially, studies will utilize cell-based assays on the ability of phytochemicals modulating oxidative DNA damage markers. Subsequently, the combination of in vitro, animal, clinical, and epidemiologic studies will be employed to understand the role of phytochemicals in maintaining optimal human health.
