School of Medicine Simulation Center

Location: New Orleans, LA

Manages the American Heart Association Training Center and all public professional trainings, as multiple programs under the Tulane Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Team Training. Functions as AHA Training Center coordinator, and is responsible for budgeting, pricing strategy, invoicing, cash management, managing instructors, scheduling courses and setting and enforcing Training Center policies. Oversees all public professional training programs, including ATLS, PHTLS, and EMT-B. Also includes any external client training programs. Works with Director in planning, tracking, optimizing and meeting budget for all training programs.


  • Ability to manage to include hiring, training, scheduling, execution of performance, and termination when warranted
  • Computer proficiency to include excellent keyboarding skills and knowledge of the following: Word-processing, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, graphics, including diagrams, flow charts, presentations, budgets and spreadsheets; E-Mail correspondence related to program. Knowledge of the web and how to access web sites and search on the web
  • Ability to understand healthcare training programs
  • Ability to accomplish basic financial planning
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly
  • Ability to complete tasks with upfront instruction and minimal ongoing oversight
  • Ability to achieve priorities set by others and to self-prioritize when necessary
  • Ability to keep timelines and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of and experience with database programs
  • Knowledge of budgeting and accounting
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with individuals internal and external to the organization in an effective, courteous, and productive manner, and an awareness for sensitivity and confidentiality
  • Ability to exhibit excellent people skills, both in managing employees and working with non-Tulane instructors in a mentoring and quality control role
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment, including photocopiers, FAX machines, telephones, computer printers, and LCD projectors
  • Ability to oversee multiple programs simultaneously with absolute minimal direction

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in any of the following areas: nursing, allied health, pre-hospital, research, data management, education, training or business operations


High school diploma and 8 years experience in any of the following areas: nursing, allied health, pre-hospital, research, data management, education, training or business operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Experience working in an academic environment
  • Knowledge of AHA Course policies for BLS, ACLS and PALS
  • Knowledge of ACS Course policies for ATLS, RTTDC, ATOM & ASSET
  • Knowledge of NREMT Course policies for EMT, EMT Advanced & PHTLS
