Bachelor's degree. One year of full time experience in Admissions or student services related field. Experience in student related recruitment events and recruitment receptions. Strong computer skills including some experience with programs such as PeopleSoft, Banner, Nolij Web and/or Hobsons Connect. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience processing, reviewing and/or rendering decisions on admissions applications and interviewing/counseling potential and/or current college students. Knowledge of SEVIS regulations. Experience with a variety of communication modes including social media. Demonstration of cross cultural understanding and strong multicultural skills.

Brief Description of Duties: The Office of International Admissions is seeking an Admissions Counselor to assist in the development and implementation of recruitment outreach yield activities to prospective undergraduate students, including international transfer students. This includes participating in college fairs, high school visits, Open Houses, Student Receptions and Counselor Seminars. Significant responsibilities include processing, reviewing, and rendering decisions on admission applications and responding. The incumbent will also assist in identifying and targeting high achieving students for recruitment purposes and will be involved in the overall recruitment and admission goals of the University. The successful incumbent must have outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

  • Process, review and render decisions on international freshmen and transfer applications.
  • Conduct follow-up to inquiries, applicants, and enrollees via telephone, e-mail, on-line chat, social media, and written correspondence.
  • Interview prospective students and their families. Counsel them on opportunities available at the University.
  • Represent the University at college fairs and high school visits, Embassy visits and other outreach efforts.
  • Assist in identifying and targeting sources of high achieving students and work with international programs for recruitment purposes.
  • Participate in open houses, information sessions, student receptions and counselor seminars.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.

Special Notes:

This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. **Night and weekend work is required. Local, regional, national and international travel will be required.
