Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

The Trades Utility Worker supports Facilities Management's goal of providing a consistent, cost effective and the control of safe working conditions for Facilities Management. This position assists with the performance of maintenance services and repairs in various routine, unskilled or semi-skilled tasks; consisting of preventive maintenance, service calls and other assigned duties from supervisor.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as well as a valid driver's license, with a positive points balance. Basic knowledge or experience in one or more trades and moving practices is essential. Ability to lift heavy objects, as well as use moving equipment and power tools is also required. Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills are also essential. Basic carpentry skills are highly preferred.
