Overview

The office of the Dean of the College is seeking a talented individual to serve as Admission Assistant in the Office of Admission. The successful candidate will work extensively in the department's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and application reading platform, Slate. Additional responsibilities include reception coverage for the department's locations on campus; assistance and preparation with high-volume mailing projects through traditional and electronic mediums; other duties as assigned by the department manager, dean of admission, or director of admission.

This is a one year term position.

Responsibilities

CRM Slate Responsibilities:

Each admission assistant is responsible to attend to approximately 4,500 first-year applications. As part of their work in Slate, the admission assistant must: review and assign documents to inquiry, prospect, or applicant files (year-round task); ensure all applicant files are complete and documents are properly identified from submission to decision to mailing; consolidate records; identify and assign school information for new schools that enter the CRM system; complete correction requests as issued by officers reviewing files; review optional materials uploaded by applicants; identify re-applicants to the University; additional tasks as assigned.

In-Person, Phone, and Email Communication:

In-person interactions take place mostly at reception and during on-campus events, while phone and email communication takes place on a daily basis. During the application review season, the admission assistant will speak or email with applicants to the University to provide general answers or provide confirmation about materials received. In addition, admission assistants will be in contact with school officials upon the request of an officer who is in need of information from an applicant's school.

Preparation Work for Mailings and Events:

The admission assistant team will prepare, with an extremely high level of attention to detail and confidentiality, items for over 3000 packets of mail during an admission season. In addition, there are ongoing mailings sent to prospective students and information sent to high schools and community-based organizations throughout the year. In preparation for a diverse perspectives open house in the fall and admitted student programs in April, Princeton Preview, the admission assistant staff plays an integral role in preparation work and event-day support to provide successful programs for visitors to the University.



Qualifications

Required:
  • High School diploma or GED and 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and adherence to strict confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism; the ability to work as part of a team or independently to set and complete priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications including Word and Excel.

The selected individual should have excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with visitors to the University in person, over the phone and through email communication; possess the ability to work efficiently and independently; and to set and complete priorities in a fast-paced and technical environment. Tact, diplomacy, patience, discretion, sense of humor, and respect for fellow co-workers are essential.

Preferred:

Prior Experience with PeopleSoft Student Administration System and Slate preferred as well as ability to learn computer-based systems quickly.
