Description

The Department of Public Health and Community Service at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM) coordinates and oversees community-based outreach and service activities of the school and is responsible for curriculum and programmatic areas related to: public health, community service learning, research methods, interprofessional education, health promotion/disease prevention, geriatrics and epidemiology.

Under general direction, complex administrative support duties are performed for the Department Chair and faculty. Major responsibilities may include compiling data and assisting in the preparation of reports, managing databases, coordination and follow-up on emails and phone messages. The employee will act as department liaison answering questions and communicating on behalf of the Department Chair. Other duties include making travel arrangements, event planning, calendar scheduling, word processing, and assisting with student hires. There may be responsibility to supervise or provide work direction to other administrative support staff.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of administrative experience.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Email and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent computer skills, ability to quickly learn and apply new technology solutions.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, communications and time management skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, interact effectively with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds, diplomatic and professional.
  • Maintain professional, collegial environment and relationships.
  • Able to balance work effort on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to work with frequent interruptions and multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
