The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Department of Biology teaches biological concepts and research methods to biology and medical technology majors and prepares them for professional careers and/or advanced study. We also introduce non-biology majors to basic biological knowledge and its applications to our society. We prepare graduate students for professional careers and/or further graduate study. By involving undergraduate and graduate students in research, we increase society's knowledge of living organisms and their environments and we enhance our students' technical and analytical skills so that they can contribute meaningfully to an increasingly technological society. We apply our skills by serving the University, our profession, and the larger community.
The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biology. We seek an outstanding individual with research interests in Aquatic Ecology. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a productive, externally funded research program and contribute to student instruction of the department at all levels. Full participation is expected in our Biology undergraduate curriculum and Master program, as well as our broadly defined doctoral program in Environmental Health Science, which is directed at understanding environmental problems that directly, or indirectly, affect human health and well-being from the molecular to global levels.
