Office of Information Technology - College of Medicine
Responsible for the integration of computers and networks, feasibility studies, project analysis and management. Manages advanced systems that include server, application and client software/hardware computing. Manages complex TCP/IP network devices that include wireless APs, switches, routers and security appliances.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining optimal systems operations and coordinating efforts to pursue resolution of problems associated with computer operating systems, complex networks and software used at the college. Develops, edits and reviews documentation relating to information technology policies and procedures and insures conformance with established standards.
Participates in the recommendation of business and technical policies and procedures and initiates automated solutions that apply the effective use of progressive technology and the creation and direction of new programs that advance initiatives at COM. Assists in the development of project plans and proposals that include budget needs.
Responsible for the design and implementation of procedures and controls which help maintain the security of user data. Works with external network staff in discovering network security breaches and illegal use of network resources.
Responsible for coverage of network issues and repairs that may occur after normal business hours and on holidays and weekends on a rotational basis as directed by the Director of IT Infrastructure and the Network Manager.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, ICT, or other appropriate degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Experience conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users.
Experience planning, organizing, and prioritizing work assignments.
Experience with enterprise IT security and incident response.
Experience managing virtualized enterprise infrastructure (Virtual Servers, Storage, and/or Virtual Appliances).
Experience managing cloud based infrastructure in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
Experience automating systematic processes utilizing PowerShell, Python, System Center, or other technologies.
Experience managing 3-tier applications (Web Server, App Server, Database) and/or distributed applications.
Certifications in IT Security, Cloud Architecture, Microsoft Technologies, Open Source Platforms, Project Management, or other IT related areas.
Anticipated Salary Range
Anticipate hiring up to the $50,000's, commensurate upon education, skills, and experience.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
