Responsibilities

We are looking for a part-time research assistant to help with FSU-wide scientific, technical, and computational asset compilation, documentation, update, and upload. The work will involve downloading/uploading asset data, department-wide cross checking of equipment against data, and adding/correcting equipment information and documentation in consultation with various departmental core facility personnel. The work will include the following:

- Revising long and short description of equipment.
- Categorizing equipment into groups and sub groups.
- Documenting current status of equipment, cost of usage, and usage requirements.
- Photographic documentation of equipment, accessories along with FSU property tag.
- Documenting manufacture and instrument information.
- Collecting operating procedures, protocols, and manuals of equipment.
- Uploading, downloading, and correcting the data in database.
- Other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Candidate should have some experience with scientific, technical, and computational equipment. Should be able to follow directions/examples and work independently. This position requires the candidate to pay close attention to details such as model numbers, accessories, and modifications.

The selected person should have strong interpersonal skills and should be able to work with department-wide core facility personnel. Majority of the documentation work will need to be completed during the open business hours of the University.

Preferred

Science/engineering background is preferred. Ability to document details and some knowledge of database and web sites a plus.

Pay Plan

This is an OPS/temporary Job.

Tentatively $10 per hour for up to 10 hours per/week but flexible to suit department needs.
