Job description

Position Summary

Provides office support for the department chairperson, associate chairperson and related committees, maintains and updates electronic appointment calendar, booking flights and other accommodations for travel, reports meeting minutes; gathers and organizes travel materials, processes travel reimbursements and moving expenses for new faculty; assists with various human resource functions such as processing electronic forms for research assistants and faculty no-pay appointments, and serves as a backup for student and temporary and on-call hiring actions and payroll; processes information for visa attainment for visiting scholars; provides assistance with reviewing operating statements and account filing; interacts with students, faculty, staff administrators, executives, and the public.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical school or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in maintaining account ledgers, departmental operations, employment, or in performing tasks related to the area of employment; experience in word processing, editing and composing correspondence, and maintaining spreadsheets and/or databases; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; experience in working in a fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions; the ability to prioritize and organize effectively; excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills; excellent attention to detail; collaborative and forward-thinking; an ability to work independently.
