Power Supply Engineer I/II/III

Position Summary
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, spare power supply, and spare parts  management for assigned equipment
  • Keep consistent accurate records of maintenance tasks and results
  • Indicate areas of improvement, which noticeably lower failure rates
  • Construct, modify and assist in developing engineering prototypes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Seek critical evaluation of designs
  • Maintain an accurate and factual documentation of developing processes
  • Independently find means to improve productivity and implements alternative methods
  • Fabricate and install and/or manages the fabrication and installation of electronic systems as required
  • Foresee any potential problem areas and notifies line manager
  • Continually strive to improve productivity, quality and uniformity
  • Assist in generating electronic documentation and insures that documents are available, up-to-date and complete for all assigned equipment
  • Check availability and location of all documentation and locates missing documents on a weekly basis
  • Manage, maintain and supports installations of power supply systems throughout the Lab
  • Determine ways to optimize power supply systems without making overly complex
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

The job requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics; one to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in physics, electronics, mechanical and/or electrical drafting, fabrication techniques, heat transfer, cryogenics and computer systems; and may require experience in the use of CAD and/or related engineering systems, including file transfer; experience in the use of exotic metals, including knowledge of their properties, in the fabrication and assembly of sophisticated research equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
