Health Care Assistant
This Health Care Assistant position is for a front office (clerical) and back office medical assistant in the MSU HealthTeam Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic. Daily job duties include, but are not limited to: greeting patients, registering and directing patients to correct patient areas; verifying insurance coverage, authorizations, collecting payments and preparing deposit batch at the end of the day; scheduling appointments, maintaining master schedule for physicians; receiving and routing calls and relaying messages; rooming patients, recording chief complaints; obtaining vital signs and health information, performing routine tests and procedures; preparing equipment, supplies and cleaning exam rooms to prepare for patient exams; assisting health care providers during exams and treatments; ordering, updating, copying and filing patient chart/medical records in order to ensure availability for providers; completing and verifying authorizations and routing referrals and notes appropriately.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests and obtaining vital signs; experience with electronic health record systems and patient scheduling systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a certified medical assistant with current certification, which must be maintained for the duration of employment.Required Application Materials
