IPF Power/Water IT Systems Administrator

Position Summary

This position will administer the IPF Power and Water IT infrastructure including the software and hardware that goes along with this support. This position will interface with the IT Vendors that IPF Power and Water works with and ensure that the software provided by the vendors is working properly and up to date servers and workstations. This position will provide general (second level) diagnostic support to customers as well as ensure that documentation is kept up to date for the IT infrastructure. This position will engage in High Performance, leading edge practices, which are Innovative in their approach to increased Stewardship and Service Excellence.

MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology (IT) across MSU. MSU IT offers technology resources that support MSU’s mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years of experience working with Rockwell Controls systems. 3+ years of experience working with manufacturing or utility controls and monitoring solutions. Experience with Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems; Experience with VMWare ESXi and vSphere; Experience with Rockwell Automation; Experience with Data Historian Software and with Emissions Monitoring Software; A creative and innovative lifelong learner with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population; Able to problem solve within a collaborative team environment; Ability to understand different perspectives while utilizing expert knowledge of the technical operations of the job.
