Associate/Full Professor and Chair of Health Science
CSU Channel Islands is seeking an Associate or Full Professor to assume the position of Chair of Health Science. The Chair of Health Science heads the baccalaureate degree in health science program. The successful candidate will continue to develop the Health Science BS degree. The successful candidate must be willing to teach a variety of the required Health Science courses. The course of study includes the biological, psychological, sociological, political, philosophical, medical, and financial aspect of health promotion. The candidate will teach, advise, assist students in service learning placements, and conduct research on health care issues. Responsibilities include: program leadership, teaching, student advising, university/community service and scholarly productivity. Experience with administration of a Health Science, Health Education, or Public Health program is preferred.
A Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Public Health, Health Education, Health Science, or a directly related field is required.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of one year’s leadership in academic program administration of baccalaureate education, including budget management; teaching, scholarship and service accomplishments which align with the mission of CI and achieve specific learning outcomes. Evidence of a program of scholarship, history of external funding, interest in interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship; skill in working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and community partners and demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Preferred qualifications include 3-5 years of Department Chair or Director experience in a Health Science or Public Health program; successful collaboration with community partners, health care agencies, institutions and advisory boards; experience in articulation of programs with community colleges and proven record of successful award of external funding via grants and sponsored projects.
