Senior Patient Representative

Student Health Center

Location: New Orleans, LA


This position provides administrative functions and support for the provision of comprehensive medical care for a population of 13,000 students. The candidate must have a strong customer service orientation. Duties encompass ensuring efficient functioning of front desk operations including, but not limited to: patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, customer relations, collection and management of fees for service, reconciliation reports, and uphold confidentiality. This position supervises patient representative staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

  • Knowledge of third party billing and insurance
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner in a patient care environment
  • Ability to working cooperatively and effectively with a diverse population and colleagues
  • Competence of carrying out responsibilities independently
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed


Required Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Five years of previous administrative, clerical or customer service experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Partial college education or more
  • 1 year of medical office experience
  • Five years of previous administrative or clerical experience in a healthcare setting
