About the College/Department
The Poultry Science Department consists of approximately 30 nationally respected faculty in various fields of study. Undergraduate, M.S. and Ph.D. programs are offered by the Department.
The Poultry Science Department/Center of Excellence for Poultry Science is housed in an 112,000-square-foot office, laboratory and classroom complex located on the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, campus. Additional poultry science facilities are located within close proximity to the campus and include a poultry research farm, a pilot processing plant, a feed mill, a poultry health and isolation unit, and commercial style research farms for broilers and broiler breeders.
The Center is part of the University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture and poultry faculty members are employed as researchers for the Division and its Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station.

Summary of Job Duties
The Post Doctoral Associate will be involved in experimental poultry vaccine production and development, both bacterial and viral. This individual will oversee inactivated vaccine formulation, development of standard operating procedures, and quality control measures for experimental vaccine production. The selected candidate is expected to be involved in sample collection and isolation and recovery of bacterial and viral antigens. The candidate must have experience with general microbiological techniques, ELISA development, serology, and immunology. The associate will work in collaboration with researchers at the University of Arkansas, Texas A&M University, Ohio State University and private industry as required.

Required Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with demonstrated familiarity with poultry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of vaccine development and production (bacterial and viral antigens).
Ability to maintain detailed records.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, SAS or comparable statistics program. Ability to communicate effectively in both orally and in writing. .
