Job Description
The Financial Aid Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Administrator to join our team.

The Financial Aid Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Administrator to join our Processing team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Counseling and routing incoming inquiries regarding financial aid application processes, aid program availability, need analysis, verification requirements, satisfactory academic progress and ineligibility for aid.
* Assume accountability for and maintain knowledge of Federal, State and Institutional guidelines and regulations which include reading, interpreting, evaluating, training, and proposing recommendations for office operations.
* Assessing program eligibility for various financial aid programs, including federal need analysis eligibility.
* Determining and explaining formulas and calculations.
* Serve as a first point of contact for the department to other university personnel and outside entities related to Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
* Serve as team lead for Satisfactory Academic Progress
* Accessing, utilizing and updating information into the PeopleSoft system, ImageNow, NSLDS, FAA Access and other associated software programs.
* Reviewing appeals, meeting with students for Satisfactory Academic Progress, tracking appeals and data related to SAP and other processing area specific tasks.
* Write and update procedural documentation.
* Participate in orientations and other presentations where SAP is the focus.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* In depth knowledge of financial aid processes, policies and procedures or ability to quickly assimilate.
* Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
* Ability to effectively communicate.
* Develops and maintains effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
* Knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
* Two years of experience within a Financial Aid Office.
* Skill in composing routine letters and preparing reports.
* Skill in recording and compiling material for reports.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
* Customer service experience in multiple settings.
* Ability to work independently.
* The physical ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
