Part-time Staff Assistant - Drama and Dance, School of Arts and Sciences-18001578

This is a part-time position working 16 hours per week, and is not benefits eligible. This is also an academic year position at 38 weeks per year.

The Tufts Dance Program is housed within the Department of Drama & Dance and offers an array of experientially based studio and lecture-based courses. Studio courses range from the genres of beginning ballet, modern, African and dances of the African Diaspora, Kathak, hip hop, to advanced studies in creative process, choreography, dance on camera and performance. Lecture courses rotate across subject areas in the field, including dance history and aesthetics, dance education, and contemporary cross-disciplinary studies of dance. Between 180-220 students enroll in Dance Program classes each semester, and over 500 students participate in the 11+ extracurricular dance groups that rehearse in Dance Program facilities. Facilities include two dedicated studios with sprung flooring; one of the studios converts into a performance space that seats approximately 100 people. The Tufts University Department of Drama & Dance seeks applicants for a part-time, non-benefits eligible, administrative position in Dance commencing Fall, 2018. Primary responsibilities include administrative support in the following areas: faculty, staff, student and prospective student liaison for the Dance Program; studio scheduling and physical plant management; extracurricular student dance group rehearsal supervision; student work study supervision; media and archiving management; media relations and marketing liaison for the Dance Program; production assistance for Dance Program performances and events.
Basic Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED and 3 years of job related experience OR a Bachelor's degree with 1 year of job related experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is required.
  • Ability to learn new software programs and university database systems.
  • Experience with website management.

Preferred Qualifications:

BA/BFA (dance or arts-related) is strongly preferred. Proficiency with audio/visual technology and video editing programs are highly recommended.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
16 hours per week. 38 weeks per year. Ability to work part-time during Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm and occasional weekends and evenings.
