Performs complex data collection, reduction, and laboratory techniques requiring the use of independent judgment. Performs tests and analyses to determine procedures to be used and interprets results; may include basic administrative tasks.

Funding for this position is based on grant funds and therefore continued employment is based on availability of these funds

  • Independently plans, executes, and analyzes experiments and other relative analytical techniques
  • Sets up, prepares and performs assigned experiments
  • Supervision of directed method student research
  • Records and maintains accurate and complete records of all experimental data
  • Assists in the writing and editing of standard operating procedures and manuscripts for publication in refereed journals
  • Maintains various cultures and stocks
  • Provides day-to-day instruction and assistance to student researchers regarding basic lab techniques
  • Responsible for coordinating and ordering materials and supplies, including inventory tasks, along with coordinating and executing other routine laboratory maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Completes periodic safety training and complies with associated safety guidelines

  • Able to deal with multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), and presentation
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong Attention to detail and strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher education in related field preferred
  • Two (2) years research experience after the completion of undergraduate study preferred
