Lake-Sumter State College serves over 7,500 students annually in Lake and Sumter counties in central Florida. We invite candidates to apply for our Director, Student Life position. Student Life provides innovative programs that support the College’s mission, enhance the quality of the student experience, and sustain a student-centered learning environment. Student Life staff on all campuses build supportive relationships with students and provide meaningful opportunities for students to stay connected. The Director of Student Life is responsible for implementing a comprehensive and robust college-wide student life program that enriches the learning experience, fosters inclusion and engagement, encourages civic engagement, provides leadership development opportunities, and supports student success. The Director is the primary steward of the college-wide student activity fee & RSO budgets, serves as the advisor to the Leesburg Student Government Association (SGA), and provides support to all Leesburg campus RSO’s and RSO advisors. The Director leads off-campus student events and conferences; promotes the vitality of all RSO’s; supports student involvement in District/State FCSSGA; manages marketing and communication efforts; leads annual student awards processes; develops program review efforts; leads “Lakehawk Welcome Days”; and liaisons to New Student Orientation, the Alumni Association, Athletics, and Campus Safety. Student Life staff maintain a work schedule that requires some night and weekend commitments including overnights. Although primarily based on the Leesburg campus, the Director has college-wide responsibilities and will engage in scheduled travel to all campuses. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Service Excellence; respect, competence, responsiveness, and collaboration, in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in educational leadership,student personnel, student affairs, higher education administration, leadership education, counseling, or related area required. EXPERIENCE: Required: Minimum 4 years professional experience in a student-facing function in one of the following areas: student life, student activities, leadership programs, residence life, fraternity/sorority life, or student clubs/organizations at the postsecondary level.Preferred: Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising student leaders on a college campus. Demonstrated budget management experience, and demonstrated experience planning small & large events.
