The Behavioral Health Counselor provides direct clinical psychological service to the UCR campus. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide individual, couple, and group therapy to UCR students. This position provides crisis intervention services; consults with students, staff, and faculty; and serves on University committees. The Behavioral Health Counselor will also serve as a liaison to various campus communities. A successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion. Areas of particular interest/experience that would be preferred to service the following communities are preferred: LGBTQ+ communities and identities; African Diaspora; Asian and Pacific Islanders, and clinicians focused on Diversity and Inclusion. Counseling & Psychological Services is a Health and Psychological Student Services (HAPSS) department and supports student success through optimization of emotional and physical health, through direct service, education, and provision of resources and referrals. Education Requirements DegreeRequirement Master's degree in related area or equivalent experience. Required
Licenses LicenseRequirement Current, valid license as an LCSW or LMFT. Required Current, valid license in California as an LCSW or LMFT. Preferred

ExperienceRequirement Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Required Demonstrated commitment and experience with Diversity Required Experience designing and implementing multicuturally sensitive outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops. Required Experience working in a university or college setting. Preferred
Special ConditionRequirement Ongoing mantenance of valid licensure in a behavioral health displine in California, successful completion and maintenance of valid credentialing & privileging process pursuant to UC systemwide requirements. Required Out of State licensed behavioral health counselors are required to acquire California licensure within 180 days from either submitting the application or beginning California residency, whichever occurs first. Required Expectation of availability after hours or on weekends to serve the occasional emergent needs of students and campus challenges/crises. Required Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and other after-hours campus activities. Required

Knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
Thorough knowledge of diagnostic/psychological testing methodologies.
Understanding of intersectionality and how it impacts the daily lives of students.
Thorough knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.
Highly effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Knowledge of business software and specialized applications/systems used in behavioral health settings.
Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic approach and modify as necessary.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
Highly effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with a diverse client group.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
Interest or focus on Diversity and Inclusion or demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the cultures and experiences in counseling for one of the following communities: LGBTQ+ communities and identities, African Diaspora, and Asian/Pacific Islanders.
