Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached CV)

PhD degree in biology, biochemistry or related field with working experience in biochemical analysis and molecular and microbiological cell techniques. PhD training to include laboratory experience in an academic setting. Must have experience in conducting research projects in microbiology or biochemistry and at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal in a biomedical or basic biochemistry field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, especially metabolomics or lipidomics. Working experience with flow cytometry and analysis; fluorescence microscopy and image analysis; and/or or lipid analytical chemistry such as extraction, thin-layer chromatography, radiometric analysis techniques. Experience working in a biosafety level 3 laboratory

Brief Description of Duties:

The Postdoctoral Associate incumbent will directly assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Pharmacological Sciences in conducting experiments for sponsored research funded by the NIH and foundation grants. The incumbent must have a high degree of integrity and a high level of organizational and communication skills. The incumbent must be able to conduct research projects and design and troubleshoot experiments independently. Supervision and on-the-job training will be provided in specific methods and techniques. The incumbent must participate in manuscript writing and preparation for publication and may assist in grant writing. The incumbent will be expected to train, supervise and/or collaborate with other lab members and/or off-campus collaborators.

  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, design and conduct experiments related to mycobacterial cell envelope biogenesis and general physiology.
  • Data collection, analysis and presentation; participation in manuscript writing for publication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as training and supervising laboratory personnel.
