The VCHA, Center for Biomedical Informatics and Personalized Medicine, Health Data Compass has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) ETL Developer (IT Senior Professional) position.

Job Summary:

Position Emphasis:

Health Data Compass is an enterprise health data warehouse on the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado in Aurora, CO. Our team runs the data integration and analytics platform to support clinical and translational healthcare research across the CU research enterprise, promotes operational excellence within our partner hospitals, and drives innovation and discovery in the field of personalized medicine. We are jointly sponsored by the University of Colorado Denver, University of Colorado Health, Children's Hospital Colorado and CU Medicine. Compass services are based on a combination of traditional on-premises systems and cutting-edge, cloud based technologies. The primary responsibility of the ETL Developer will be to design and develop the processes required to extract, transform, cleanse, and load the data into the enterprise data warehouse and data marts. They will also perform a variety of tasks to deliver data warehousing solutions, including participating in data warehouse architecture and data modeling, as well as developing/enhancing technical standards to solve business problems.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or other related field from accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of professional level experience in data warehousing and business intelligence.
  • Three (3) years of technical experience relating to ETL design, development, performance and validation.
  • Experience developing custom code like python for data movement and data manipulation.
  • Experience developing custom scheduling programs and scripts.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the required experience.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience working with a variety of ETL development tools, e.g., Informatica, SSIS, Talend.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform components.
  • Experience with normalized and dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience handling Rest API's and HTTPS requests.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced level of knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and validate complex database load and maintenance processes with ETL tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and schedule the ETL run cycle within the allowable window of load time.
  • Knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Java, Unix shell, Windows shell, R, SAS, or C/C++.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
