Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia seeks to hire a highly motivated event planner to join the Donor Relations team within University Advancement. The Donor Relations team is focused on building and sustaining lifelong relationships: encouraging people and organizations to get involved, stay informed, and invest in UVA. The Coordinator, Donor Relations: Strategic Events works in collaboration with University Advancement, the Office of the President, and colleagues across Grounds to plan and execute a variety of events in order to cultivate, recognize, educate, and steward donors, prospects, and alumni of the University. The Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing all logistical arrangements, preparing formal briefing materials for the President and other designated University officials, fulfilling invitation mailings, tracking responses, and assembling event collateral. The Coordinator will assist team members with other stewardship- and events-related work as needed.

The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience in planning and executing events, preferably within a higher education setting, with a strong attention to detail and a high standard of excellence. The successful must have the ability to interact appropriately with executive level administrators, government officials, donors/prospects, alumni, and development staff, and must be able to exercise independent judgement and critical thinking. The incumbent will have exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills that foster positive relationships with both internal and external partners.

This is a restricted position and continuation is dependent on funding.

Must have the ability to interact with executive level administrators, government officials, donors/prospects, alumni, and development staff, with an understanding of protocol, political environment and implications, discretion and confidentiality.

Must have ability to use independent judgment and critical thinking.

Must have a strong attention to detail.

Excellent communications skills and working knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
