Position Summary: This position will be a Web/Database programmer and data manager for large-scale health-related data. Person will need to work directly with researchers and research teams on two levels: 1) to understand the system requirements for web-based research systems; create wireframes, data models and interface designs for implementation; and, write programming code necessary for implementation of a web/db system; 2) to understand data requirements for large-scale health-related data; explore multifarious data sources; discover and document interoperability of data across datasets; evaluate/interpret data from various data sources; and, create and present data visualizations that may address customers' needs. Responsibilities will include: participating in requirements gathering sessions with customers, creating wireframes and early prototypes, design of database structures and web-based systems, programming in a team environment, data management strategies for large-scale datasets from multifarious sources, creating data visualization appropriate for data and needs, and design and development of programming tools and analytic tools for exploring the data across various platforms and various applications. Person will utilize PHP, Laravel framework, CSS, MySQL, Tableau, data modeling tools, Jira, BitBucket, various database tools, presentation software, and other analytics tools.

Education Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or *Bachelor's degree and some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or *Associate's degree in Computer Programming and one year of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Journey level requires an additional one year of experience.
Qualification and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with nine semester hours in programming and three years of experience in applications consulting and development is preferred. Demonstrated experience designing and developing web/database systems. Demonstrated experience working with large-scale data. Successful experience working with PHP, Laravel, CSS and MySQL as a web/database programming platform at an advanced intermediate level or higher is needed. Successful experience working directly with research Principal Investigators (PIs) and research project teams to understand project needs and timelines then plan, provide and manage the necessary programming support. Experience working with relational databases and SQL required. Must have proven ability to analyze complex problems and design solutions that fit within available technical environment. Employee will need to continually assess innovations and changes in a few web/database programming areas to effectively adopt new technologies that could enhance programming services. Knowledge of data exploration and visualization tools like Tableau or SAS Visual Analytics and how they can be leveraged to enhance services is highly desirable. Experience working in a team programming environment is highly desirable.
