Under the direction of the Manager and Cash/Collections Supervisor, the Patient Financial Services Representative is responsible for all incoming payments for UK Healthcare patient services. The position requires balancing, creating batches for application, processing credit card transactions and creating bank deposits. The representative is expected to be detail oriented, familiar with website research and able to utilize all resources within the Hospital and department to accomplish the assigned job duties. This position will also provide customer service to departments and coworkers to help ensure that UKHC collections are accounted for and all necessary documentation needed is provided to the cash application area so payments can be applied accurately.

Physical Requirements

Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods performing data entry; repetitive motions; occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 10 lbs.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate's degree; third party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience; medical, office and/or clerical work preferred. Previous experience working with patient accounts/HIPAA is highly preferred.
