Responsibilities

Serves as an advocate to primary and secondary victims of crime. Plans and provides services which provide victims the essential support and advocacy needed to help maintain academic and personal well-being. With the director share the On-Call Victim Advocate duties and responsibilities (i.e., providing after hour services including weekends and holidays; assists with ensuring On-Call coverage available to students in need).

Development, training, supervision and evaluation of Bachelor's and Masters level interns and/or volunteers. Maintains compliance with educational requirements of the University as well as education staff members on newest research on sexual violence, advocacy and victim services. Coordinate new employee orientation, professional development and continuing education opportunities for VAP staff.

Monitor data collection and statistical information for the VAP program including but not limited to monthly statistics, annual reports and victim contacts. Assist in the collection and compliance of data reported under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Act.

Coordinates campus outreach and educational programming on various topics which include but are not limited to victimization issues, safety planning, trauma informed care, and VAP services. Promotes the Victim Advocate Program through presentations and events with campus and community partners.

Collaborates with the Director in recommending and implementing University policy regarding victim's rights. Stays abreast of current University policies and codes as well as state and federal legislation affecting crime victims. Interprets policy for victims of crime as well as the University community.

Manages the budgeting and purchasing of marketing and educational materials related to victim's rights, victim services and advocacy. This would include printed materials as well as what is shared on social media. Plans for the anticipated yearly needs of the VAP program. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, social sciences or related field plus four years' related experience required.

Experience working with students that have been victimized.

Experience dealing with crises and managing sensitive information.

Experience preparing and coordinating presentations and events.

Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.

Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.

Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Experience utilizing problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to listen and record accurate information.

Preferred

Master's degree preferred.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
