AWARD ANALYST, Sponsored Programs

Under the guidance of the Sr. Managing Research Administrator (SMRA), the Award Analyst is responsible for creating and modifying sponsored research accounts. This process involves reviewing award notices, account information and file documentation, verifying that all necessary internal approvals have been obtained, reviewing and adjusting budgets for set-up, recording appropriate data into the Kuali Coeus (KC) system, participating in award set-up QA, and issuing account notifications to Principal Investigators (PIs) and Department Administrators (DAs). The Award Analyst works closely with Research Administrators (RAs) in Sponsored Programs and Post Award Financial Operations (PAFO) to resolve issues and answer questions that arise during the award set-up process. They serve as the point person and subject matter/process expert for all Analysts across teams. This position trouble shoots and triages problematic transactions; Assists SMRA with documenting policies and developing procedures for the award set-up lifecycle; Coordinates and delivers, along with the SMRA, trainings for new hires. They are also responsible for the creation and distribution of Award Aging reports.

A bachelor's degree and minimum of one to three years of experience working in an office setting, preferrably within an institution of higher education or non-profit, is required. The award analyst must be eager to learn, detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. He or she must have strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable working as part of a team. Prior experience with pre- or post-award research administration activities, at either the department or central level, is highly desirable, but not required.
