Position Announcement: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Finance

The Department of Finance and Economics in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance position beginning August 2019.

Successful candidates must be academically qualified to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate finance courses. Areas of need include Financial Institutions, International Finance, Financial Statement Analysis, and an interest in working with Student Managed Funds.  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Finance (or closely-related field) or be in the ABD stage of their doctoral studies, with expected completion of the Ph.D. prior to their start date. In addition to excellent communication skills, applicants must be able to provide instruction in a variety of modalities, including online. Faculty at UTC are expected to teach nine credit hours per semester, conduct research leading to quality refereed journal publications, and involve themselves in efforts to engage and retain students, mentor finance clubs, and connect UTC with the business community in Chattanooga. 

The College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga recently received the largest philanthropic gift in the history of UTC from Gary W. Rollins and Kathleen Rollins of Atlanta.  The $40 million gift established the Gary W. Rollins College of Business as the first named college at UTC. The Rollins College of Business is AACSB accredited at the undergraduate and graduate levels, serves approximately 2100 students, and has a collegial faculty. The Finance program in the Rollins College is the program of choice for students throughout the southern Tennessee and north Georgia regions. We strive for our students to be Academically Prepared and Business World Ready. This high-quality, competitive program offers students many unique benefits: a state-of-the-art Finance Lab with 10 Bloomberg terminals, integrated classroom and technology-based experiential learning and internships, a Student Success Center with dedicated career advisors, business-world inspired curriculum design, industry speakers and field trips, including an annual trip to Wall Street. Students manage over $1.4 million through the SMILE Fund and two other portfolios. The Finance program is part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. Faculty are supported with faculty development and summer research grants and have access to major databases through WRDS.
