GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Server Specialist’s role is to support the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime. The person will also diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required. Receives direction from the Server Administrator and exercises no supervision. Must be available for some flexible scheduling.
Note: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent education (minimum of 15 hours of college computer course work) and work experience in computer/network support.

Knowledge of: (1) working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows 2016 Server, Microsoft Exchange, VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Cisco Blades servers, NetApps storage, VBscript, Power Shell, Linux, Windows 10 and Windows 7; (2) working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including knowledge of Cisco solutions; (3) organization’s goals and objectives; (4) applicable data privacy practices and laws; (5) hands-on hardware, software, and network connectivity troubleshooting; (6) working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; (7) application support experience with Microsoft Office Products and Cisco/Network support applications; Skills in: (8) customer service orientation; (9) written and oral communication; (10) Interpersonal skills; Ability to: (11) operate network component analyzers, scanners, and testers; (12) analytical and problem-solving abilities; (13) self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail; (14) conduct research into server connectivity issues and products as required; (15) effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; (16) present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
