Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking a Director of Annual Support Programs in the Office of Advancement to serve as the principal development officer to present and promote the case for annual, unrestricted support of Utica College to its key constituencies including alumni, parents, friends, local business leaders and owners, faculty, staff, and administration. He/she will design, implement, manage, and assess the tactical and strategic plans to secure annual goals for numbers of donors and dollars contributed annually for current operations. The Director will lead a dynamic staff of three professionals whose primary focus will be to utilize multi-channel communications and strategies to build the College’s donor base among its alumni and friends for support of current operations. Working with his/her team, the Director will be responsible for the design and implementation of annual plans to increase donors and dollars through Class and Affinity Reunions, Inter-Collegiate Athletics through the deployment of print and digital material, telephone outreach, crowd funding, giving day activities, and social media. The Director will serve as a member of the Vice President’s senior staff, and will play an important role in the overall planning and implementation of the College’s comprehensive development program for its annual and capital priorities.

Primary responsibilities include:
Working closely with the V.P. for Advancement, the Director will play a leading role in the design, implementation, management, and assessment of the major initiatives that constitute annual giving at the College including, but not limited to, alumni, parents, friends, annual support of Athletics from private donors and advertising sponsors, class and affinity giving, faculty and staff giving, and student engagement; Serve as one of the lead spokespersons for the Utica College Unrestricted Annual Fund while providing strategic direction and planning for all the areas listed above. Planning and direction will be done in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of Utica College; Contribute to efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for leadership level gifts of $1000 or more; including assuming a personal solicitation portfolio of approximately 75-100 individuals; Supervise three professional staff with similar-sized portfolios, and coordinate all efforts around volunteers involved in asking for contributions on an annual basis; Work with Marketing and Communications to brand Utica College Annual Giving with the appropriate print and digital materials; In support of other development officers, the senior officers of the College, Trustees, and other key volunteers, the Director will advise and consent on proposals and other written materials prepared to secure annual contributions from individuals, corporations, and local businesses; Maintain an active awareness of the College’s priorities, objectives and goals, and assist in the design of strategies that will serve to advance the College and its mission; Takes an active role in the development of the Division’s strategic and operational plans as required by Divisional leadership. Works closely with the VP to develop and implement operational goals that support the Division’s success; Perform other duties as assigned. Must maintain a clean driving record as defined by College insurance carrier guidelines. Motor vehicle record will be monitored regularly using NYS License Event Notification Service or License Monitor, Inc. for out of state licenses.
A bachelor’s degree is required with five or more years of experience in educational development and personal solicitation of gifts over $1000.
