Brief Summary of Work for this Position:

Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor. Seeking a dynamic professional to: conduct the UNCW Chamber and Concert Choirs; teach voice lessons; choral conducting; choral methods and literature; and other courses appropriate to the appointee’s qualifications and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with faculty colleagues, and will oversee organizational planning for all choral undertakings, including preparation and promotion of the annual concert season, tours, service to campus events, etc. Other departmental responsibilities include student advising, committee work, and overseeing recruitment efforts in the choral area.

Minimum Requirements:

Demonstrated success in working as a college-level choral conductor and educator within a diverse liberal arts curriculum. Completed DMA or PhD with an emphasis in choral conducting preferred; ABD candidates will be considered, with the expectation that all degree requirements will be completed by the beginning of the fall 2019 semester.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated success as a choral program builder and recruiter at the college and public school levels. Experience teaching voice lessons; choral methods; supervising student teachers in the choral area. Knowledge of edTPA. Experience in conducting collaborative performances that include choral, orchestral and operatic ensembles.
