Coordinator of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Job description

The Coordinator of Fraternity & Sorority Life is responsible for council advisement, chapter development, and student leader development. This position primarily focuses on programming, advising, increasing engagement opportunities, and reducing risk/liability. The Coordinator actively collaborates with key stakeholders and advocates for students through the department to best serve the student needs, and will work with chapter advisors, Area/Regional Advisors, Alumni Organizations, and Inter-National Organizations, including Leadership Consultants.

  • Advise and support the Greek Community by serving as the primary advisor to at least one council; multiple organization chapters under each of the four councils; the Order of Omega; and the Greek Programming Board
  • Collaborate with Greek organization advisors, volunteers, alumni boards, and inter/national headquarters staff members to create partnerships and provide support through regular communication.
  • Oversee the coordination of membership recruitment and intake processes, including the marketing and public relations strategy, room reservations, recruitment schedule, and the bid distribution process as well as maintaining a presence at all formal recruitment events.
  • Work with each organization and their inter/national headquarters and volunteers to create, maintain, and disseminate accurate and comprehensive records of Greek membership, recruitment, retention, academics, and participation on campus and within the community through philanthropic and community service efforts.
  • Develop and manage budgets related to daily operations for the Greek Community and specific councils
  • Develop and provide programming and educational workshops for the chapters and governing councils that are pertinent and relevant to the growth and development of the fraternity and sorority community
  • Assist staff members with the coordination of major campus events, including Week of Welcome, Greek Week, Homecoming, Greek Awards, Admission Preview Days, and all other traditional programs and activities.
  • Assess and maintain assessment records related to all programmatic events.
  • Provide direction, leadership and guidance to groups interested in the Greek expansion or extension process as well as those engaged in expansion through the start of a project through chartering.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Able to deal with multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication, and presentation
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong Attention to detail and strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service and phone etiquette

  • Master’s Degree in College Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, Public Administration, or related field is strongly preferred
  • Professional experience within a comprehensive student activities office, Greek leadership program or related field in a higher education setting
