Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Friday Institute Evaluation Team is a dynamic group of researchers from diverse professional backgrounds who collaborate to provide exemplary evaluation services. Essential Job Duties: The Research Associate (RA) will work on several projects to evaluate the implementation and impact of digital-age innovations in K-12 or postsecondary settings. This individual will contribute to the research and evaluation planning process and day-to-day operations of evaluation projects. The RA will serve as a contact between school personnel, project team members, graduate assistants, and the faculty members. The RA will be responsible for collecting, inputting, editing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, as well as creating and managing databases and online surveys. This person will conduct site visits, classroom observations, focus groups, interviews. In addition, the RA will contribute reports for the LEAs and schools participating in the study, the funding agencies, and interested educators, researchers, and policymakers. The RA will be responsible for preparing papers for publication and presentation at professional meetings and will contribute to proposals for additional evaluation projects.

Minimum Education/Experience: Relevant Masters degree or Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, and at least 3 years of experience in education as a teacher, curriculum developer, instructional designer, and/or researcher.

Department Required Skills: Background and experience in education policy and quantitative and qualitative research methods preferred Research and/or Evaluation experience in NC Educational setting. Excellent organizational and communication skills, willingness to take initiative, and ability to work with a team toward a common goal. Strong writing, editing and oral presentation skills.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Completed Master's or equivalent degree in Education, Education Research, Policy Analysis, or other relevant field. Knowledgeable about the use of technology in K-12 education. Understanding of both qualitative and quantitative educational research.
