Job description

Duties: Provides career advising to Wharton undergraduates and alumni in all aspects of career development including career exploration, job seeking, decision making and salary negotiation. Holds individual career advising appointments, mock interviews and walk-in advising hours. Answers extensive volume of e-mail questions from Wharton students and alumni. Reviews resumes and cover letters. Plans and implements career seminars and workshops, including collaborating with student clubs, academic departments and other campus organizations and centers. Recruits student and alumni speakers for career programming. Compiles employment data into comprehensive reports by class year as a resource for students, alumni, employers and other constituents. Manages Wharton class year distribution lists and industry-specific listservs. Co-manages the Discovery Days career exploration program and coordinates MBA Mock Interview Day program. Helps maintain sections of Career Services website and contributes to Career Services social media efforts through periodic blog posts and event marketing. Coordinates career fair logistics including event management through Handshake, employer recruitment, event staffing and event marketing with assistance from Administrative Assistant. Participates on internal committees in support of office goals. Interests employers in hiring University of Pennsylvania students through telephone conversations, office meetings and local and national employer site visits. Assists in providing other campus offices with career information. Receives administrative supervision and reports to the Senior Associate Director for the Wharton team in Career Services

Qualifications: A Master's degree or more and 2 - 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Motivation to work in a student service role as part of a positive, high, energy multi-team office is needed. Demonstrated advising skills, with ability to understand student and alumni needs and concerns. Ability to organize, market, and implement programs. Ability to work successfully with employers, administrators, and faculty members. Excellent public contact, organization, analytical and writing skills. Prior knowledge of business careers and employment issues a plus. Some experience in program development and implementation in student services is desirable. Strong technology skills, preferably with strong Access and Excel skills helpful - a willingness to learn new software and systems is essential. Knowledge of social media use preferred. Certification in Strong Interest Inventory, MBTI, and / or Clifton StrengthsFinder helpful.
