Financial Aid Counselor
This position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid and oversees the online Graduate Program affiliated with 2U, Speech @Emerson, including the processing of Federal, Institutional, and Private aid, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. This position will also work with other areas within SFS to support default prevention measures and educational protocols.
This position will also support the efforts of the Office of Student Accounts in the creation of all billing communications and invoicing, and assist with collections and account maintenance.

•Experience with online Grad programs
•1-2 years experience with Grad financial aid processing in regular terms and modules; be comfortable with multi-term starts and knowledgeable of federal rules governing pre-requisites
•1-3 years experience with Banner Financial Aid or Student Accounts
•Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with students and parents in a friendly, courteous manner
•Comfortable with cross-training of colleagues
•Ability to propose changes to current policies and procedures to increase customer service efforts
•Experience working closely with students/families in a higher education environment
•Have strong communication skills that include the ability to present information in a public manner as
well as one-on-one meetings. Excellent written skills are also expected.
•Ability to handle stressful situations in a courteous and professional manner
•Inquisitive and analytical, with strong critical thinking skills. S/he will have the ability to solve problems, including the ability to help non-experts understand policies and processes
•Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize tasks
•Commitment to and ability to work with diverse populations.
Master’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience in higher education. Knowledge of financial aid, admission, student accounts, or student services; Experience working with diverse student populations
Required Prior Work Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of experience in higher education, human resources, or customer service environments
