The Office of Multicultural Student Services invites applications for a part-time, evening Coordinator. Lewis University serves a diverse student population and community and we invite applications from individuals that embody a commitment to diversity. The Coordinator will work closely with the leadership in Multicultural Student Services to assist in the design, implementation and assessment of services and programs for historically underserved student populations. The Coordinator will consistently promote student learning and success.
The Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to provide support and serve as an advisor and advocate for the needs and concerns of diverse students as well as advise and assist with academic, financial, personal, social, and career development concerns as related to diverse students. This position will work with student organizations on goal setting, membership, problem solving and quality programming. The incumbent will develop a plan for outreach to diverse student populations and assist with coordination of retention initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree is required. Must have one to three years of experience in a multicultural services or diversity education setting. Must be a student centered professional who demonstrates knowledge about intercultural issues and be an innovative and resourceful professional with strong verbal and written communication skills, Must have an ability to advise and assist students in their college journey and have an overall understanding of the need to create a sense of belonging. Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Also required is experience with program development, student advising and working within diverse populations. A focus of this position is to meet the needs of multicultural populations. Must be available to be present at evening events and possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. A record of personal integrity and a commitment to Catholic and Lasallian higher education and a diverse and inclusive work culture, are essential.
This position is required to work evenings and weekends and respond to after-hours concerns as needed.
