Position Summary    

Under direction, performs technical work in a college instructional program involving design and construction; manages a supporting laboratory stockroom; receives, stocks, maintains and issues laboratory supplies and equipment; coordinates budget and expenditures for laboratory supplies and equipment. This position is assigned to the Department of Instruction – Maker Space.


Assignment Responsibilities    

● Maintains supply and equipment inventories in design lab and construction storeroom, ordering new materials as needed, receiving, checking and storing ordered materials and maintaining accountability records.

● Oversees the preparation of equipment for classroom use, maintaining it as needed when not in use.

● Oversees and participates in the preparation of materials and equipment for classroom instruction.

● Trains and oversees student workers, emphasizing safety in handling power equipment, tools and materials.

● Repairs and maintains laboratory equipment.

● Maintains storeroom expenditure records.

● Provides data for budget estimates and controls expenditures to prevent overspending.

● Maintains storeroom in a clean, safe, secure, and orderly condition.

● Provides guidance to students in proper care and use of material, equipment, and supplies.

● Adheres to State and local laws relating to health and safety.

● Performs related duties as required.


Special Requirements    

Any offer of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a medical evaluation.


Minimum Qualifications    

EXPERIENCE: Two years of responsible work experience in the area of cabinet making, house or light commercial construction.


EDUCATION: Completion of two years of college work in the subject area to which assigned. Additional experience in construction may be substituted for the educational requirement.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: 15 units are equal to six months of education; 30 units are equal to one year of education.)
