Position Summary:

Saint Augustine's University's Department of Athletics invites candidates to apply for the full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer position.  This 10-month position and the individual will be a part of an athletic team program offering fourteen (14) intercollegiate sports and a member of the NCAA Division II and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.  The position will be responsible for supporting the Head Athletic Trainer and provide medical services for all student athletes.   


  • Provide injury prevention, evaluations, treatment, referral and rehabilitation for all student athletes.
  • Administer first aid to injured athletes such as CPR.
  • Organize and maintain daily medical records.
  • Provide clinical supervision of athletic training students.
  • Maintain confidentiality of athlete injury information.  
  • Seek appropriate referral/consultation for injured athletes.
  • Assist injured athletes in completing and submitting insurance claims.


Degree in athletic training from an accredited athletic training education program.  NATABOC certification.  State of NC Athletic Trainer License required.  Must have CPR/AED for professional rescuer certification and possess a valid or be eligible to obtain a NC Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods of time while providing athletic medical coverage indoors and outdoors.  Work irregular hours including nights and weekends when necessary.  Ability to perform heavy team-lifting in either emergent or non-emergent situations without compromising patient safety.
