Position Summary:

Saint Augustine’s University seeks a highly motivated, independent and creative administrative professional to serve our students through our Freshman Success Initiatives.  A background in English, Rhetoric and Composition or a related field is preferred.  Knowledge/experience with Writing Center work and the ability to serve as the campus Security Authority of the Clery Act.

Responsibilities:               

  • Maintain oversight of and assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the University Writing Center.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain quantitative and qualitative data regarding Center activities and usage for administrative and grant reporting purposes.
  • Maintain responsibility for the recruitment, training, management and professional development of peer writing consultants; provide guidance and supervision as directed and /or as warranted to the Assistant Director of the Writing Center/Freshman Writing Initiative (FWI).  Plan and facilitate weekly staff meetings.
  • Promote Writing Center services among faculty and students through class visits and/or presentations, workshops or other marketing efforts.
  • Develop and deliver faculty/student workshops.
  • Support the vision and mission of the Institution and unit.
  • Serve as a Master Instructor and Coordinator for the applied writing course (LIS 150).
  • Serve as contributing member of the FWI Team.
  • Must report immediately to the Campus Police Department any crime information, witnessed or ascertained.  Must report all Clery Act Crimes.

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree is required for this position preferably in English, Rhetoric and Composition or a related field. Candidates should have experience in teaching/tutoring academic writing to students at a secondary or postsecondary level, in addition to program development and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communications skills along with computer proficiency. Able to work independently and as a team member.

Physical  Requirements:

Ability to lift carry and or move 25 pounds. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
