RESEARCH SPECIALIST A/B
Duties: We are looking for a research specialist A/B to work as part of a large team of basic and translational scientists, and physicians investigating host-microbial interactions.
Responsibilities of the Research Specialist A include bacterial culture; in vivo mouse experiments utilizing techniques such as oral gavage and submandibular blood collection; harvesting and processing of mouse tissues. The successful candidate is expected to work under the direction of the investigators.
Additional responsibilities of the Research Specialist B include: immunofluorescence staining and fluorescence microscopy of mouse tissues; processing mouse tissue samples to extract immune and epithelial cells; acquiring flow cytometry data and performing basic data analysis. The successful candidate is expected to work semi-independently. While prior research experience with mouse handling is strongly preferred, this position will involve on-the-job training and acquisition of new skills. Other expectations of this position include attending and presenting data during lab meetings, actively engage in project discussions, attend seminars, and assisting other members of the lab as needed.
Qualifications: Research Specialist A: A Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 year of lab experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Research Specialist B: A Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of lab experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Both positions: A Bachelor's in biology, chemistry, or molecular biology, or related field preferred.
The candidate must have strong organizational, excellent written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable; ability to coordinate several projects concurrently is essential. Willingness to lean new techniques is an asset.
