Job Summary/Basic Function: JOB SUMMARY


This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the college’s information security activities.




• Performs risk management analysis to identify areas of risk and to develop security measures to prevent losses. • Develops and implements information technology (IT) system security plans, projects, and initiatives. • Plans, implements, manages, and coordinates security measures and controls for information systems to regulate access to computer data and prevent unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure of information. • Designs and implements encryption systems for the protection of data, data storage, and transmission paths. • Monitors the use of data files and regulates access to safeguard data in computer files. • Installs, maintains, and supports information security products and services. • Works with business owners, IT managers, staff, and vendors in order to provide timely and efficient coordination of security services to meet college needs. • Serves as a subject matter expert representing the college on all issues relating to information security as needed. • Creates reports on the status of college information security programs and projects as needed. • Communicates with senior executives through oral and written reports and presentations as needed. • Performs related duties as assigned.


Starting Salary for this position is $55,093.00.




• Knowledge of security technologies and software tools for the protection of IT infrastructure and assets. • Knowledge of IT project management methods and techniques. • Knowledge of software development life cycles. • Knowledge of the federal risk management framework. • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and standards for the safeguarding of sensitive information and data. • Skill in developing and implementing information security incident response plans and procedures. • Skill in developing and implementing information security disaster recovery and business continuity plans. • Skill in developing and employing information security performance metrics. • Skill in producing technical documents. • Skill in decision making and problem solving. • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. • Skill in oral and written communication.




• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
