Position Summary: THIS IS A THREE-YEAR TIME-LIMITED POSITION; INDIVIDUALS MUST LIVE IN EDGECOMBE, HALIFAX, NASH, WARREN, WILSON, OR AN ADJACENT COUNTY OR BE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO THIS REGION AN AVERAGE OF 3 TIMES A WEEK. The Infant/Toddler-Child Care Health Consultant (IT-CCHC) position is a community-based position that works with early care and education (child care) administrators, facility owners, educators, health care professionals, and families to ensure optimal health for infants and toddlers and to reduce their risk of illness and harm. IT-CCHCs offer technical assistance through collaborative consultation, coaching, training, and advocacy. The primary purpose of this position is to provide health and safety technical assistance to child care facilities in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Warren, and Wilson counties. This position must contribute to research/reporting conducted by the NC Resource Center by providing accurate data of services provided. The position is required to perform health and safety quality control/quality assurance the child care facilities. The IT-CCHC will: * Work collaboratively with child care facilities to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve high-quality, safe child care environments; * Guide early care and education programs to achieve best practice standards; * Offer targeted and comprehensive consultation based on identified needs and in support of a facility's quality improvement planning; * Provide health and safety training to improve health knowledge and skill development of facility staff; * Provide consultation and training for facilities to complete medical plans for children with special health care needs; * Act as a liaison to local health professionals and community service agencies by offering health education, community information, and referral resources to facilities and families; * Provide education and support regarding health, safety, and nutrition to families whose children are enrolled in child care settings; * Advocate for young children by actively serving on and coordinating with local, regional, and statewide committees that support healthy growth and development of children; * Establish and maintain on-going working relationships with other professionals offering technical assistance to early care and education settings; * Participate in on-going support offered by the NC Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center and the NC CCHC Association; and * Evaluate progress by conducting periodic assessments using process and outcome measures. This position is home-based. The employee is expected to come to the NC Resource Center office in Raleigh at least quarterly. The individual is expected to have a home office in the county region, or in a county proximate to it. Travel is required within the counties where services are provided.

Education Requirements:

Qualification and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
