Founding Faculty Director, Social Innovation

The Agnes Scott College Social Innovation master’s degree program invites applications for the position of a founding faculty director. The Social Innovation program prepares students to solve complex social problems by blending business principles with interdisciplinary knowledge. The Social Innovation program builds on the momentum of five additional interdisciplinary graduate programs launched over the course of the 2019 and 2020 academic years.

The successful candidate will provide the conceptual leadership for the program, working with a faculty advisory group to develop the program’s curriculum, hire instructors as needed, teach up to three graduate and two undergraduate courses over the course of the year (fall semester, spring semester, and two summer sessions), maintain a program of scholarly research, and contribute to the life of the college. Graduate courses are offered weekday evenings and on Saturdays; undergraduate courses are offered during standard business hours.

Candidates must have a PhD or terminal degree in business, economics, psychology, public health, sociology, or another liberal arts field, and demonstrated expertise in program administration. The director will have interdisciplinary research and teaching interests and a commitment to the liberal arts and sciences. Ability to contribute to other graduate programs in applied technology, data visualization, evaluation and assessment methods, or writing and digital communication is preferred. This is a three-year, renewable position (subject to performance) that is non-tenure track, with the possibility of converting to tenure track pending success of the program. Faculty appointment will be commensurate with experience, and departmental affiliation will be determined by the field of the terminal degree.

To apply, send a cover letter addressing your qualifications, a CV, and three recent letters of recommendation to Kelly Ball, Assistant Dean for Graduate and Extended Programs, at [email protected] with “Social Innovation” included in the subject line. Applications received by October 1, 2018 will receive full consideration (electronic submissions only).  Additional materials—such as sample publications, syllabi, teaching evaluations, official transcripts, etc.—will be solicited from selected applicants later in the search process. Review of applications will continue until position is filled.
