Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree preferred with a preference in computer science, information science, management information systems, or business.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

-Three or more years of systems administration experience required. Preferred in higher education, medical school, government, and/or non-profit.
-Advanced experience and knowledge of computer networks, security, virtualization and storage is required.
-Advanced experience in the management and configuration of Windows and Linux servers in a production environment, including hardware, software and services is required.
-Experience managing and maintaining a virtualized infrastructure such as VMware, Nutanix, or Hyper-V including associated SAN and virtualized network environments is required.
-Relevant work experience with Windows and OSX is required.
-Hardware and software troubleshooting skills are required.
-Experience with formal project management is preferred.
-Experience with Bash/shell/PowerShell scripting or other common programming language preferred.

Position Summary:

The School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Shared Services IT group provides a unique opportunity for an innovative systems administrator. This group provides IT leadership to the SMPH community, delivered through strategic projects and services built on strong IT systems environments. Utilizing these resources, the group is responsible for the IT assessments and management tools used to leverage UW Madison IT resources. Shared Services IT is responsible to research and facilitate IT efficiencies and economy of scale for SMPH as part of departmental engagement initiatives. The group is strongly tied to the mission of the SMPH and provides IT support through the various leadership and administrative functions of the SMPH Dean's office.
