Indiana Wesleyan University seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, on the Marion, Indiana campus starting fall 2019, pending funding. The successful candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, comfort with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitments to liberal learning and the integration of Christian faith in teaching and practice.  Applicants with diverse ethnic, racial, and gender perspectives are especially encouraged to apply.


Earned doctorate in Exercise Science, or related field. ABD or candidates with Master’s degrees may be considered.

Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.


Job responsibilities include teaching exercise science courses at all undergraduate levels as well as student mentoring, curriculum development, academic advising, overseeing student internships, and assisting in the development of undergraduate research projects.  Potential courses to be taught include Fitness Assessment, Exercise Prescription, Principles of Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition for Health and Fitness, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology and Concepts of Health and Wellness.  The Division of Health and Human Performance offers majors in Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education, Recreation and Camp Administration, Sports Management, Athletic Training, and Sports Ministry as well as minors in Coach and Health Promotion and Wellness.  The Division has 8 full time faculty and over 240 majors.
