POSITION: A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is available in the Department of Kinesiology. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Biomechanics and a secondary area of expertise in Athletic Training or Exercise Science who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active program involving undergraduate students. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2019/2020 academic year with a start date of August 26, 2019.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Biomechanics, Exercise Science, Motor Development, or related area by August 26, 2019 (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by the start date).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching and ability to teach biomechanics in addition to courses within a secondary area of expertise: Athletic Training (e.g. anatomy, acute care of athletic injuries) (candidates with an Athletic Training background must be BOC certified and either possess or be eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin) or Exercise Science (e.g. motor development, anatomical kinesiology); demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness; demonstrated commitment to student/faculty research.
DUTIES: Teach courses in the Department of Kinesiology based on program needs and in accordance with specialization; participate in research and scholarly activities with undergraduate students; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University and profession. For those ATP candidates, assignment as the “Clinical Education Coordinator” may occur.
DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology consists of 10 faculty and instructional academic staff and approximately 700 majors and minors. Department faculty are dedicated to teaching and student learning and are actively engaged in student-faculty research. The Department is also recognized for community outreach programs that offer health and physical activity opportunities for individuals living in the Eau Claire area. In addition, the Department is affiliated with the Institute for Health Sciences at UW-Eau Claire, which supports the advancement and visibility of pre-professional and professional health science programs.
