Job Description Summary
Montgomery College Art Department, Rockville Campus is seeking a part-time faculty to teach Art Appreciation and Art History, beginning fall 2018. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Montgomery College is a public, fully accredited, open admission institution. The Art Program is dedicated to student success and widely recognized for the quality and scope of its program. Many of our students transfer to local and national four-year institutions after completing an AA in Art or an AFA in Studio Art.

Job Description

***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. ***

  • The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as "TBA" does not constitute an assignment.
  • The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion.


Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Teach courses including Art Appreciation, Art History: Ancient to 1400 and Art History: 1400-Present.
  • Teach one or more courses related to Art History per semester.


Required Qualifications:
  • MA in Art History or closely related field.
  • Recent college level teaching experience in Art History is required (Graduate school teaching assistantship or lectureship is acceptable, but the applicant must be instructor of record).
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate computer/digital technology into course delivery.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching college-level Art Appreciation and/or Art History survey courses.
  • Experience working with students of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
