General Summary: The Communication, Media & Journalism department seeks a part-time faculty to teach Public Speaking and/or Introduction to Media Studies on the Dahlonega campus during the Fall 2018 semester. The Public Speaking course introduces students to the history, principles, and practices of public speaking with an emphasis on research and the organization of material as well as the verbal and nonverbal aspects of delivery. The course pays special attention to cultural and global perspectives, critical thinking, and audience analysis during the preparation and practice of public address. Introduction to Media Studies is required for Communication and Film & Digital Media majors and surveys the historical development and cultural roles of the various mass media, including print, radio, film, television, and the internet. It also introduces the foundational theoretical concepts and research methods of the media studies discipline.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Will teach Public Speaking and/or Introduction to Media Studies, and possibly additional courses depending on student demand
  • Communicating with departmental colleagues regarding choice of text, common assignments, and standardized rubrics and grading
  • Reporting grades in a timely manner
  • Following all guidelines in the Faculty Handbook for part-time faculty.


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have completed at least 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in communication studies, media studies, mass communication, or related discipline.
