Position Description: The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Curriculum & Instruction seeks a temporary faculty member to teach LITED 4192 Experience in Literacy: Tutoring. This is a 3 credit hour course that involves face-to-face field-based experiences, including both assessment and instruction of literacy. This position involves both direct instruction on effective literacy practices in both assessment and instruction for children who experience difficulties with literacy, and observation of university students' tutoring in the field, followed by feedback for support and development of instructional skills. A portion of this position involves evaluation of both lesson plans and lesson reflections.
Education Requirements: Master's degree in literacy education or related field required.
Required Qualification: Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in grades K-12; experience with literacy assessment; and experience teaching, reading and/or writing to students in grades K-12 required.
Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with good observation skills; experience working in local Cedar Valley schools; and experience with effective lesson planning and reflection of practice.
